This large comfortable three storey terraced Maison de Maitre ¹ stands near the bridge as you come into Laroque and probably dates from the late 19th Century. It is entered, as traditionally most houses are in this part of France, through the cave (where the grape treading basin still survives) via a staircase to the roomy open plan oak beamed main living area on the first floor.
First floor:
The living room. Here you will find comfortable seating around a functioning fire, (most definitely not needed in summer!), TV
through archway to the dining area
and a well equipped kitchen area with gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave
Outside the kitchen door a surprise awaits, a delightful covered terrace with table and chairs which serves as an outside dining area and which looks out on to
the 7m x 3.5m swimming pool and sun bathing area
The caretaker comes in 2/3 times a week to maintain the pumps etc.
Up to 2nd floor landing and:
One double bedroom
A second double bedroom
A third twin bedroom
The two back bedrooms give onto another terrace which also overlooks the pool and from which there are fantastic views across the village to the Albères beyond.

Small utility room off terrace, with washing machine
Shower room with WC and basin on the first floor
Shower room with WC and basin on the second floor
¹ A Maison de Maitre of this type usually dates from the mid to late 19C and is a town or village house owned by a comfortable landowning family who would have produced wine to be transported by the new fangled railways quickly and cheaply to the urban centres of France where it was drunk, instead of water, by the masses and was, until the 1980's, of appallingly low quality. How times have changed! The bad reputation of Roussillon wine has been hard to shake off but we who live here know that now it's not difficult to find deep, dark reds that equal, or in many cases surpass, those from other more famous regions .... and at half the price.
Gas barbecue
