Here we have an authentic fisherman's house dating from 1865, modernised tastefully in 2001 and decorated skilfully with a lot of charm by the present owners. It is situated in a quiet street not two minutes walk, down steps, to the shops and to the mouthwatering offerings of the harbourside restaurants of this small, lively and unspoilt fishing port, steeped in history and dating back to Roman times (when it was known as Portus Veneris).
Port Vendres may be a working port, but a holiday here has a signature dedicated firmly to pleasure. Buy your fish, fresh from the boat below and cook it within minutes on the bbq in the delightful outside summer kitchen back at the house.
There are small beaches along the coast towards Collioure (you can walk from here to there with ease) a fabulous series of rocky coves just to the south and wide sandy beaches starting at the edge of the plain, just to the north.
Take a boat trip down the coast to Spain, scuba dive along the "coastal path", snorkel (even I can do that!) at Paulille, hire a boat and go fishing; all this and more is what spending a holiday in Port Vendres is really all about.

Entrance into hallway
a dining room for 8, with ambience, designed for enjoying your food
Through archway/breakfast bar to very well equipped kitchen (the owners are foodies) with sink, gas hob, eye level oven, microwave, fridge with ice compartment
Utility room with washing machine, WC
Stairs from hall to 1st floor landing
Twin Bedroom doubling as lounge with sofa which converts to two single beds. TV, radio

Very steep "boat" stairs to top floor. If you can't manage them then all is not lost. Take the shallow and easy outside stairs, up the side of the house, giving alternative access to the top floor terrace/garden
Attic lounge with pullout double sofabed
A surprise! French windows out to the 2nd floor terrace/garden! It has a dining table, is semi-enclosed and there's a summer kitchen with sink, gas hob and oven and fridge so there's no running up and down stairs, and, to complete the picture. a barbecue, but that's where we came in ...

Heating in winter with electric convectors
A "low car use" holiday is possible here
Please supply your own bedlinen and towels or local hire available
